Description
Here's an early 1830s open pontil Bertinguiot ink bottle that many collectors believe was blown at the Coventry Glass Works in Connecticut, or possibly another New England glasshouse. The bottle is embBERTINGUIOT
in nice bold letters on front....Open Pontil....smooth sheared lip....round.....2"tall....olive green with a hint of amber.....Sparkling mint condition with no chips or damage of any kind. Shiny clean with no haze. This is probably the nicest Bertinguiot ink I've ever had. It has good color and bold embossing. Bertinguiot was a French ink maker with advertisements dating from the 1830s. We have dug examples of this bottle in New Orleans, St.Louis and Illinois so Bertinguiot ink was widely sold in the U.S.A.
