    Description

    Here's a very scarce early pontiled flint glass inkwell from the 1820-1840 era that was made for early quill ink pens....(quill pen is only for display and does not come with the inkwell)....no embossing....Hand pressed in mold....ground pontil scar on bottom....thick heavy clear flint glass.....2 1/8"tall x 2 1/2"square....3 shallow holes for holding pens, along with a filler hole around a central cone shape dipping hole in middle....rounded pillars around the outside....Good condition except for a chip on the top edge of filler hole; no other damage. Old dried ink residue inside, along with a couple old steel pen tips. This is a rare style of early glass inkwell
