Antique 1880's Deering Harvester Dexterity String Puzzle Toy Pre International

Description

This rare, beautiful vintage puzzle has 2 cardboard discs joined by a string. Each disc measures about 2 1/4" in diameter. One disc is marked "The Deering Self Binding Harvester" and the other "The Deering Mower". Each has a great image of the machinery mentioned on the disc. The puzzle is marked "Copyrighted and Printed By Sewell's Envelope Factory Chicago". The back of the Self Binding Harvester disc is marked "Over 75 in 1881 and 1882" (Refers to the number of prizes for their machinery won in those 2 years). In 1902 Deering, McCormick and 3 other companies merged to form International Harvester. This puzzle pre-dates that merger. The puzzle has been used. It has no rips or tears and is pretty clean. A great example of this hard to find Deering advertising puzzle.
