    Description

Solid cedar timber 4" x 8".  Standard lengths listed but can be cut to any length. Available up to 14' but contact us for lengths over 6'. Other dimensions available.
This is rough cut timber and this beautiful solid natural cedar beam is perfectly imperfect characterized by checks, knots, etc. Striking natural decor. These are also available sanded smooth all 4 sides.
This is a solid beam that should be installed with 1/2" x 12" all-thread (supplied) epoxied into wall studs and slab. Though easily done, you will need to drill holes into the mantel and masonry or wall studs to accomplish this so a local handyman may be called upon to install if you are uncomfortable doing it yourself.
Contact us for prices on these dimensions or any other other depths, widths and lengths not listed. These beams can be sanded smooth for a charge.
    Mantel Installation
    Brick or masonry wall
: You will receive 3-4 (depending on mantel size) 1/2" x 12” threaded rod pieces to attach to the wall and mantel.
Drill 7/16” holes into cedar beam. Screw threaded rod into holes by gripping with vise grip pliers.
Drill 9/16" holes into the masonry and cement the threaded rod into place with a bolt anchor mix or epoxy available at Lowes, HD, hardware store, etc. Allow sufficient set time between operations.
    Framed wall
    : You will receive 3-4 1/2" x 12” threaded rod pieces.
Drill 7/16” holes into wall studs. Screw into holes by gripping with vise grip pliers.
Drill corresponding 9/16" holes into back of mantel and apply construction adhesive (like Liquid Nails) to the rebar/threaded rod and in the holes. Guide mantel onto pins and slide against wall.
Corbels, if any, may be glued into place with construction adhesive and then toe-nailed into beam with finish nails. Set nails below surface with nailset and fill with appropriate colored wood filler.
