hyalyn porcelain Midas line by Georges Briard ashtray

hyalyn porcelain company (Hickory NC - late 1940's-early 1970's) made numerous high-quality mid-century style pieces.
The industrial designer Georges Briard designed numerous patterns used on hyalyn porcelain pieces, many of them in a line they called "Midas", accented with applied goldtone designs.  While this is an ashtray, the artistic slanted shape & design was a very popular coffee table accessory.  It has a rich rusty brown glaze with the wide tapering rim trimmed with the Briard design in gold.  It is heavy & is 8 inche
s in diameter & sits about 2-1/4 inches tall above the table on the high side & 1 inch tall above the table on the low side.  As with many hyalyn pieces, t
he bottom is covered in cork for safe placement on furniture, & the cork has the Briard Midas by hyalyn in an oval USA stamped mark.
It is in very good vintage condition - no chips, hairlines, crazing, or stains.
