Rare Semi Cabin Illinois Ink Bottle -1870s!!
Antique bottles are very popular,unique home decorations nowdays,as featured in several national magazine articles!Offered is a selection consisting of one original semi cabin or schoolhouse shaped ink bottle dating between 1870 and 1880.
The
bottle is Blown In Mold manufacture style(BIM),with applied cork top finish.
The lot includes:
1)--A seldom seen 2 7/8"tall,1 3/4"square,little aqua ink bottle with a fully applied lip and slanted shoulder semi cabin or schoolhouse design.Embossed in crude letters on one panel is "The Western Ink Co- Bloomington Ill.".Bottom is embossed with the glass house markings"A & D H C", little history of the company from an Internet website is below.Bottle is in shiny condition,a little inside ground hazing.It does have a small flake-bruise on the back right corner,as shown in picture.Great addition for your ink or Illinois bottle collection!!

The embossment has been highlighted for photo with a dark marker,could be easily removed with polish remover.
A. & D. H. C. .........Alexander & David H. Chambers, Pittsburgh, PA (1843-c.1889). This was one of the most prolific glass companies in Pittsburgh during the mid-to-late 1800s. Huge quantities of bottles, flasks, and fruit jars were made, as well as window glass. Many local, regional, and nationally distributed sodas, mineral waters, beers, bitters, tonics, and other types of products were packaged in bottles made by A&DHC. Most commonly, bottles with this mark usually seem to date from the 1870s and 1880s, but the mark was probably in use at least from around the start of the Civil War, perhaps a bit earlier.
