This "toy" was released in 2002. It has become more collectible over the years because it is very hard to manufacture a product with these capabilities anymore- essentially allowing individuals to operate a radio station- albeit over a very small range.
You can use the built in mic, aux in, cassette deck* (not working at the moment) and sound effects to transmit a radio signal over a short distance.
If one was so inclined you might read up on some old internet forums and use the internet archive to read long gone posts that discuss theoretically what you would need to do to boost the signal and other interesting mods. I am not endorsing using the toy this way, just wanted to mention it for historical research purposes.
As far as current working condition goes I have tested this and my radio does in fact pick this up on AM 1610 as it states. The tape deck stop and fast forward work, but not the play button. AUX in works. Built in mic works about as well as can be expected for a kids toy. The little side speaker is kind of annoying- I have read many people just snip it off. The sound effect buttons all work.
The volume slider is a little scratchy at parts, maybe just needs to be cleaned.
As the years go on these are going to get harder and harder to come by. If you imagine yourself using this one day for a project, don't wait!
