    Description

This trolley was made by Morton E. Converse and Company circa 1905. It is a wind-up toy and has a large spring mechanism to drive it. It has 6 seats that reverse like the real trolley. On the roof is a 6-inch stamped-steel trolley pole. There are mounting brackets for 3 destination boards,(the tabs for the fourth board are broken off) although the boards are missing from this toy. In about 1901, Lionel purchased trolley bodies from Converse to create the Lionel 300 electric trolley car, which remained in the Lionel catalog from 1901 to 1905. This is the Converse floor toy, not the Lionel electric trolley, but the sheet metal is the same.
